How To Watch American Netflix From Anywhere In The World

Today, I will show you how to unblock Netflix libraries, specifically American Netflix, using VPN.

Since you’re here, I believe you’re already aware that Netflix doesn’t provide equal access for all its contents which means that there are certain shows and series that are only available in particular countries. For example, the U.S. library has more than 4000 movies while the Japan library only has a little over 1000 movies available which is a huge difference.

1. What is a VPN?

This becomes a problem if you are travelling abroad where your favorite show isn’t available, or let’s make it simpler, let’s say you’re living outside the United States but you’re mostes that problemly fond of American shows, you’re in for a tough time. But don’t worry, VPN solv.

VPN basically works to trick Netflix that you’re located in the country of the server you’re connected to, hence leaving it no choice but to provide you the library in that country. So, wherever you are in the world, all you have to do is get a VPN that unblocks Netflix since not all VPN providers support Netflix streaming.

Additionally, even when a VPN says they can unblock Netflix for you, you might still be in a bad position since some Netflix-supporting VPNs can only unblock three, five, or six Netflix libraries.

You might also want to take note that Netflix itself doesn’t really like the idea of how VPNs can trick them and has set boundaries and regulations that average VPNs won’t be able to pass. But with the best VPNs that I will name, you’ll have the confidence to sail through th e ocean of shows and series Netflix has to offer.

2. Best VPN for Netflix

I’m talking about VPNs like ExpressVPN, NordVPN, CyberGhost, and SurfShark. But personally, I like ExpressVPN the most as it unblocks more than 20 Netflix libraries including the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada which are the top three most content-rich countries and I’ve been using this VPN specifically for my Netflix movie nights, too. If you still don’t have ExpressVPN, you can check the link on the description below where you can purchase it with massive discounts.

3. ExpressVPN

Netflix and chill have never been better using ExpressVPN. Aside from its ability to unblock many libraries, ExpressVPN also has a special built-in Speed Test feature where you will find out which servers are the fastest for each country based on your location. Because to be completely honest, connecting to VPN can reduce your Internet speed.

But with the Speed Test feature, you will save a massive amount of time as you can get the fastest server right away and you won’t have to switch to other servers– doing trial and error runs– if your streaming suddenly gets interrupted due to poor or unstable VPN speed.

Also, I’ve recorded the comparison between my original speed and the ExpressVPN server. My original speed recorded 1.09 megabits per second and with the U.S. server, I’m at 1.24 mbps. We can conclude from the result that the speed didn’t even decrease when I connected to the VPN, and this could be because my original speed is really low. But regardless, I can conclude from here that ExpressVPN is really ideal for Netflix streaming as it is for other purposes like torrenting and web surfing.

4. Unblocking Netflix

Unblocking Netflix using ExpressVPN is very easy. All you have to do is connect to the fastest U.S. server which you can determine just by looking at the Speed Test results. The higher the speed index and lower latency, the better. Right now, I’m searching for The Walking Dead but it’s not showing up here as I’m still not connected to the U.S. server. Going back to ExpressVPN, I connected to the fastest U.S. server which is the Los Angeles server and when I went back to Netflix to search for The Walking Dead again, it’s now available here for watching with minimal lags when I skipped some parts.

5. FAQs

In case you’re wondering if using VPN to unblock Netflix is illegal, IT IS NOT. In fact, it’s also not illegal to use VPN to access other websites.

Will Netflix ban you if you’re caught using a VPN? NO. It might temporarily crash with a network error only if you’re using a VPN which can’t do its job, leaving you no choice but to disconnect from the VPN. But with my top recommendations, you will be in good hands.
